저자 소개

오랫동안 교사로 일하다 지금은 전업 작가로 활동하고 있어요. <새미 키스> 시리즈와 『플립』, 『두근두근 첫사랑』, 『플라타너스 나무 위의 줄리』 등 현재까지 많은 작품을 발표했으며 상을 받은 책도 여럿 있어요. 캘리포니아에서 남편과 두 아들, 그리고 개 두 마리와 같이 살아요. 취미는 독서, 로큰롤 듣기, 달리기예요. 남편과 함께 ‘책 읽을 권리’ 캠페인도 벌이고 있어요. 이 캠페인은 아이들의 독서와 달리기를 지원하고, 학교 도서관 건립을 위해서 기금을 모으고 있는 전국적인 운동이에요. 저자는 이 캠페인을 시작할 때 처음 마라톤에 나갔고, 그때 신체장애 운동선수들이 힘차게 뛰는 모습을 보고서 이 책에 대한 영감을 얻었어요.
